Teacher Certification

There is no doubt that the need for more and better teachers is ever growing. According to the latest teacher supply and demand projections, in the next decade, the nation will need to hire 2.2 million people who are not currently teaching in the nation’s elementary and secondary schools. Not only that, but there is also mounting concern about teacher preparation and the quality of the teaching force.

The number of teachers who are teaching “out of field” has grown to an alarming number. By “out of field”, that means that these teachers are teaching subjects for which they have no academic major or even a minor, for that matter. All this, of course, points to the main problem of teaching standards regarding the training, licensing, recruiting, and hiring of teachers.

To answer this need, the Administration and the Congress of the United States have decided on education programs such as teacher certifications that are intended to raise the level of skills and know-how of the country’s educators.

The purpose of teacher certification programs is to train individuals in the specific skills and knowledge required in teaching. Historically, a person can become a teacher by completing a teacher education program at a college or university. These colleges and universities must have been approved by the state licensing authority before you can teach in any school after completing the program. As a result, school districts naturally recruited directly from these institutions with such state-approved programs.

However, this traditional “pool of qualified teachers” has turned out to be a somewhat unreliable source of teachers. About a third or forty percent of people who are “fully qualified to teach” do not teach - at least not right away. And out of those who do decide to teach, they only do so within five years (at most). Afterwards, for some reason or another, they leave teaching behind.

Because of this, the demand for more teachers far outweighs the number of teachers being produced from state-approved teacher programs. Thus, an alternative resource for teachers was needed and the solution was teacher certification programs.

This alternative movement for teacher certification rose out of a need for not only more, but also better, teachers. Teacher shortages and the concern for diversity and quality of the teaching force have compelled the states to step forward and provide new avenues for individuals to enter the teaching profession.

Each state has a different requirement for teacher certification. Some teacher certification programs accept high school graduates, allowing them to earn teaching units, enough to enable them to teach in elementary or secondary school. Other teacher certification programs require a college degree. Specialized teacher certification programs are also available. These programs allow for a set of skills and knowledge specific to one subject area, which is often the major of the teacher certification applicant.

Microsoft Certification

A Microsoft certification means a more targeted and cost-effective way of opening yourself up for a varied spectrum of job roles and responsibilities. Furthermore, Microsoft certification means a more effective way of reaching your long-term career goal.

Many companies today are looking for individuals who are holders of Microsoft certification as their way of holding on to value IT staff. Indeed, in light of today’s many varied relevant technologies, specific credential provides you with objective validation of the ability to successfully perform critical IT functions.

But there are so many types of Microsoft certification. How do you know which one is the right one for you?

Here are six simple steps:

Step 1: Decide which Microsoft Certification is the right one for you.

Well, of course. And the choice is entirely subjective. It would depend on your current position or your planned career path. Most career paths often have specific elective exams. Choose those exams that allow you to focus on the skills that are important to you.

Let us take Visual Basic elective, as an example, and let us say that your current job is database administrator. If your specific job requires some working knowledge of application support, then the Visual Basic elective could help you be well on your way to a MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) certification.

Step 2: Work in the IT field.

The purpose is so you gain hands-on experience with not only products by Microsoft, but also by other computer companies as well. But having specific hands-on experience with Microsoft products is a huge plus if your aim is to get a Microsoft certification. Your hands-on experience is invaluable and can bolster any certification plan you signed up for.

Step 3: Expand your experience and knowledge with training.

There is a huge wealth of training resources out there, if you only know where to look or who to ask. Take advantage of this great opportunity. Resources such as study guides, tutorials, hands-on, instructor-led trainings, and more can help you enhance your skills.

Step 4: Know what to expect on exams.

Microsoft certification exams will be periodically given. Familiarize yourself with the testing objectives, intended audience, and skills measured using any of the guides that are provided by your Microsoft certification plan.

Step 5: Trial run with a practice test.

This is one good way for you to determine whether you have adequate preparation to take a Microsoft certification exam. Make no mistake, however. A comprehensive practice test is not designed to indicate exactly what your score would be. But it does give you a pretty good idea and feedback on what areas you need to work on.

Step 6: Take your required Microsoft certification exams.

The Microsoft certification exams are administered by independent testing organizations. The location could be anywhere in the world. You can register through the Web or at a specific testing center site near your locality.

Case Management Certification

In order to provide and coordinate health care services to a defined population, a dynamic and systematic collaborative approach had to be adopted. Thus, the nursing case management system was developed, its framework composed of the following five essential elements:

* Assessment
* Planning
* Implementation
* Evaluation

Why Case Management Certification is Important

As a nurse case manager, you need case management certification since many employers prefer those with certification documents to show they are qualified for the job.

In addition to increasing employment opportunities, case management certification also serves as your best proof that you are qualified to apply the techniques and methodologies in nurse case management.

What a Nurse Case Manager Does

By doing all this, the nurse case manager brings a rich tradition of providing and coordinating comprehensive care not only to the client, but also to his family and the community in general.

* Advocate

* Evaluator
* Communicator
* Risk manager
* Mentor
* Consultant
* Researcher
